About
Two Sisters is one of the greatest New Zealand producers you’ve never heard of. They produce the finest of fine wines with Reisling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir coming from their extremely unique site. It is hard to describe just how impressive the vineyard truly is. The vineyard itself is located in Lowburn Valley, Central Otago and sits on a very steep, north facing slope, managed with little interference to the vines, allowing nature to work its magic. There are, however, challenges associated with this, as Founder, Adam Peren, explains, “the site has hardly any top soil, it’s mostly just gravel and it’s totally frost free, this is fantastic for the fruit coming off of it, but bloody difficult to grow anything”.
Adam has years of experience in the industry and was previously Peregrine’s Founding Director before jumping into the single vineyard life. At only 6.5 hectares small, Two Sisters is a true boutique set up, based on family roots and is even named in honour of his daughters, the two sisters.
These guys have some serious accolades – in 2019, the 2011 Riesling won Gold at the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) in London, their 2010 Riesling won Gold at the 2016 IWSC, their 2009 Riesling won a Trophy for Riesling and a Trophy Best Single Vineyard White at the 2014 IWSC, their 2008 Riesling won Gold Outstanding at the 2012 IWSC, and finally, their 2015 Pinot Noir won a Silver Medal at the 2017 IWSC, with more awards no doubt on the way – outstanding. You simply must try their wines.
