About
The Wairarapa is an amazing winegrowing region, home to a flourishing number of boutique producers. One of these incredible little producers is Stad_ko Wines, a new boutique set up in Martinborough.
Stad_ko uses fruit from their small family owned vineyard named Arapai, located on the sub GI of Dry River Flats about 8km south of Martinborough, (squeezed directly in between the Grava and Drummond Farm vineyards!). Historically, this site was NZ’s first sheep station. Robert Stadniczenko has been the owner of Arapai Vineyard for 15 years now and lives on the property. His son Anton is a viticulturist and worked for over 10 years in Australia for Penfolds and Wolf Blass. He is now the Martinborough Vineyard Manager for Craggy Range. Anton, his partner Hayley, and Robert established the Stad_ko label to express their love of the land and the wine in their blood. Their new family venture is dedicated to making high quality boutique wines, typical of the Martinborough wine region.
“We love sharing our wine with family and friends over long lunches and fun nights.”
The Arapai Vineyard is four hectares small and grows Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the majority of which are over 25 years old. There is also a newly planted, high density Chardonnay block. Only the best parcels of fruit are chosen during harvest to make the best possible wines each year.
Their Rosé is the first and currently, only release. The 2020 Stad_ko Pinot Noir and Chardonnay will be released in Autumn 2021 so keep an eye out in your subscription packs!
