About
Responsible Hedonist is a wine producer founded by two wine ‘nerds’ from the distant shores of Midwest, USA who somehow found themselves immersed in the world of wine.
Over time, Diana and Frank became seriously invested into this tasty industry thanks to their work in hospitality. They became overtly aware of a glaring issue for them: while wine itself was interesting, the conversations surrounding wine were…well… in their words “boring and, shall we say, a bit snobby…?”
This realization didn't sit well with them because, above all, they worked in wine and they found it anything but boring. Thus, their idea for Responsible Hedonist was born - a venture aimed at crafting delectable wines, offering answers to all your wine inquiries, and injecting some fun into the entire experience.
In the vibrant wine region of Aotearoa - New Zealand, founders of Responsible Hedonist, Diana and Frank, made the deliberate choice to establish their winemaking enterprise here, rather than returning to the United States.
In 2022 Responsible Hedonist has primarily sourced its fruit from Hawke's Bay, specifically from the area known as the Bridge Pa Triangle. When it comes to winemaking the Responsible Hedonist are minimal interventionists and they hold a deep appreciation for the "good beasties”, the wild or indigenous yeast that naturally reside on grapes. In line with their commitment to responsible winemaking, they source organic, sustainably farmed grapes and minimize the use of sulfur dioxide, as it is unfavorable to these beneficial microorganisms.
