About
A boutique vineyard owned by Wairarapa-born couple, Phill and Carolyn McArthur, who took over the Martinborough vineyard in 2015. The first vines were planted in 1989 and the name acknowledges the land’s previous use as a grazing paddock owned by the Sutherlands of Moy Hall Farm.
The site has great vine age ranging from 5 to 32 years and produces beautiful Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Viognier, Pinot Noir and Syrah. The vineyard will remain small and focused on healthy and sustainable vineyard practices.
The wines are made by Phill using traditional practices, with minimal handling and intervention to reflect the single-vineyard and seasonal flavours. Their dream is to create wines that are identifiable as coming from Moy Hall vineyard due to the quality of fruit and consistent winemaking practices.
Part of Moy Hall is their hugely successful restaurant which has quickly catapulted them into the food scene, in a very serious way. Their food has been deemed by the locals and Wellingtonians alike as one of the best places to dine. Period.
Part of their restaurant is the Cellar Door. There are up to six wines on pour, with winemaker-lead tastings a regular feature, adding that extra special boutique touch.
