About
Goode Wine Co. is the brainchild of Matthew Goode, a passionate young wine producer dedicated to crafting exceptional wines that embody the essence of New Zealand's vibrant viticultural landscape. Matthew Goode's launch into the world of winemaking was nothing short of seismic. After moving to the South Island in pursuit of a career in engineering, an earthquake didn’t just open up the land, but also opened a job opportunity at Spring Creek Vintners to help fix and weld the earthquake damaged tanks.
While Goode Wine Co. don’t own their own vineyard - yet - Matthew meticulously sources high quality fruit from select vineyards from around Marlborough each vintage. The wines reflect the unique characteristics of the regions and showcase the immense potential of the terroir.
Matthew is heavily inspired by his time spent in France, particularly in the noble wine regions of Alsace and Burgundy. The Goode Wine philosophy is to source quality fruit, with minimal intervention and to craft wines that exude elegance, complexity, and a true sense of place. By adopting a hands-off approach, Matthew hopes to allow the natural expression of the vineyards to shine through, capturing the very essence of the land that opened up for Matthew.
Goode Wine Company's vision for the future is to establish themselves as one of New Zealand's foremost boutique wine producers so watch this space!
