About
This 3.5 hectare vineyard is located in the centre of an ancient, extinct volcano, on the shore of Akaroa Harbour, Banks Peninsula. Renan Cataliotti is the French Vigneron behind French Peak Wines, and runs his vineyard organically and biodynamically, respecting his soil to make the best expressions of his site. Renan handcrafts incredible Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Rosé from their unique terroir – you simply have to try them.
Renan’s story begins as a student, studying viticulture and oenology in Montpellier, South of France. After travelling around Australia then NZ, he met the love of his life when in Akaroa, and together, they achieved Renan’s life long dream of making his own wine.
“Banks Peninsula is a very unique and special place to grow grapes! It is its dramatic landscape, microclimate and challenging weather that make our wines so special!” – Renan
You can visit French Peaks tasting room or stay in their lovely self-contained attic. Their romantic little accommodation is a traditional wooden barn situated on landscaped grounds of their vineyard at French Farm – it’s beautiful! And the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine.
