About
Falcon Ridge Estate is an 8.1 hectare vineyard and home to a pair of native falcons, who of course, are the inspiration behind the name.
The vineyard grows on a single block with high sunshine and a cool climate area in Spring Grove, Nelson. Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Syrah are all grown there and handpicked every harvest. This makes the wine truly reflect the character of the land and means only the best quality grapes make the cut, something that a lot of commercial producers don’t have the luxury of doing.
Falcon Ridge Estate do not blend their wines and they are all unrefined, unfiltered, and hand tended too with optimum bunch control. The vineyard employs sustainable practices including close planting, balanced soil characters, grassed vineyard, careful cane selection and bunch control along with limited irrigation and spraying to deliver premium quality full flavoured vine ripened fruit to the winemaker. The terrain of which the grapes are grown is known for producing premium full-bodied reds that have incredible balance, concentration, minerality and dark berry characters.
Not only does this vineyard produce stunning, full bodied, handcrafted wines, but only 1,700 cases are produced each year. You won’t find these wines in any supermarkets because of their high quality and limited numbers.
