About
Eaton Wines was established in 2014 after the family’s departure from the TerraVin brand. The entire family, Mike, Jo, and sons Harrison and Blake, all play a part in this premium wine label. Mike’s involvement in the New Zealand wine industry started in 1981 and with wife Jo, Mike established some of New Zealand’s most renowned Pinot Noir vineyards – Clayvin, Clay Hills, Outpost, Calrossie, and the TerraVin wine brand.
Mike manages the nutrition and disease programs for premium growers throughout Marlborough and Nelson, consulting to over 1,500 hectares of vines. Among these growers, Mike selects small parcels from exceptional sites, and with Harrison and Blake, hand tends their selected areas. Extremely small batches are produced from these meticulously cared for sites – a maximum of 1,200 bottles are made of each wine. Incredible!
Eaton Wines’ philosophy is about respecting the vineyard site, the people, and nurturing the fruit to reach its full potential; then, allowing healthy wild yeasts to ferment the wines with no other additions. This philosophy extends to blending and “marriage” where wines are settled naturally, and a small Sulphur addition is made prior to bottling unfined and unfiltered.
