About
Colombo Martinborough is a family owned and operated boutique producer with a bustling cellar door located on the Colombo home block, a short walk from Martinborough Town Square.
The German-Kiwi couple, Thomas and Nicola Röckinger, met by chance during the 2012 vintage in Martinborough. After a few years overseas, where Thomas returned home to southern Germany to finish his oenology and viticulture degree, the pair returned to Martinborough where it all began. The family feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful wine village and love living and working amongst the vineyards with their two young daughters.
Colombo produces small batches of Pinot Noir, Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Syrah. Winemaker Thomas produces wines following his European background, all crafted by hand with minimal intervention to produce elegant and expressive, yet traditional wines.
If you find yourself in Martinborough, do pop in to Colombo’s cellar door where Thomas will guide you through the range and while you are there, try a delicious wood fired pizza made by Colombo’s two Italian superstars – Pietro (head chef) and Simone (pizza extraordinaire and Colombo’s assistant winemaker, also winemaker at Equilibrium Makers, another BC producer).
